Prayer for Healing

Meets the second Wednesday of each month. Led by Pastor Kruger in Rm. 168. This month’s meeting is March 14 at 5:45pm. The group focuses on the historic significance and present power of prayer in the life of the church and of individual believers. We will spend time on important Bible verses and on the promise of God connected to prayer for healing. This group, however, will not simply focus on the study of prayer. Participants will pray for one another, be available to go to homes and bedsides to pray with those who request prayer for healing and be available at worship times to pray with anyone who desires prayer.

Palm Sunday Bake Sale

Help is needed for this year’s bake sale. On Saturday, March 31, starting at 9am, an assortment of special baked goods needed for the sale and coffee hour will be prepared. If you enjoy baking and cake & cookie decorating, please sign up on the Worship Insert. Another opportunity for helping is "Baking with Pat" on Friday, March 30, from 8am-1pm. Donated baked goods should be brought to the church on Saturday, March 31, from 1:00-5:00pm, and/or Sunday, April 1, starting at 8am. All profits help support mission projects. Easter Breakfast

Sign-up sheets for Easter Breakfast donations are up in the Commons. Proceeds from the Easter Breakfast go toward the Youth Ministry. Here is a list of things we need: milk, 8 gallons; orange juice, 16 gallons; eggs, 70 dozen; grapes, 20lbs; fresh pineapple, 10; honeydew, 8; watermelon, 8; strawberries, 15 (l lb. packages); bananas, 96; Monterey Jack cheese; 10 lbs.; 24 dozen muffins, 20 loaves of sweet bread, 40 pkgs of sausage (brown and serve only) and 15 loaves of white bread. Pray for Our Missionaries

This weekend we are praying for Rev. Joel and Iantha Scheiwe, serving the LCMS in the Asia Pacific Region, based out of Hong Kong. Joel is a strategic mission developer engaging in local leadership training and connecting North American churches and volunteers with local Asian churches. Iantha also serves the LCMS as executive director of the Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation, a Hong Kong based non-profit organizaton that works to alleviate poverty through education and service. Please pray for the Scheiwe family as they serve in Asia; build relationships and grow in the development of their roles; for all the believers in Asia to have strength and boldness in God's mission; and that the Holy Spirit would change people's lives as the Word of God is proclaimed.

We are taking over the weekend and filling it up with kids that will be here to learn more about God’s Word!

This is a weekend event and can best be described as a weekend VBS. Mr. J will lead us in a four part weekend of learning what it means to listen to God through the Bible. Friday, April 20th will be the first part, there will be two more parts on Saturday and a the closing part will be during the 11:00 Worship on Sunday. There will be music, skits, small group activities, games and lunch will be provided on Saturday. Kids in all three Sunday School groups (Sonbeams, Savior's Kids Express and Joyful Noiz) are asked to attend and bring a friend! This is a weekend you do not want to miss. Take time to register online or next week pickup a registration card that can be found on the tables in the education hall.

The MrJ Band will be here to lead us and he is one of the best at getting children into the Word. Get ready to dig down deep!

The kids will be introduced towhat will be preached during the service, similar to the children's message onSunday's but with more detail and activities to re-enforce the message. Sunday @ 9:45am Adult Class: Being Missional

From God’s mission, to circles of influence, to spiritual formation, we will discuss it all. Guest speakers, time to talk with others, and real-life examples and testimonies will provide plenty of opportunity to grow in our understanding and then to live missionally every day. Last week we reviewed the true nature of God’s mission in the world, namely, to seek and save the lost. We also realized that He has chosen to operate using us, His people, as the instruments. This week we will explore what it means to answer the call to be His disciples and how the church, as a community of believers is able to prepare and participate in this mission. Trinity First Tiger Club

It's almost spring in the Twin Cities. The kids at Tiger Club look forward to getting outside after their homework is done. We send one staff person out to the playground and one staff person stays inside to help finish up homework and answer the phone. A volunteer would help us by getting the snack ready, helping with homework or helping with games and activities. Could you volunteer to help us out? Tiger Club is the after- school program at Trinity First. We are located between Franklin Ave. and 94 on 11th Ave. Our hours are 3:15- 5:00pm. Comforting Yarns Ministry

The Comforting Yarns Ministry meets the 4th Thursday of each month from 6:30 until 8:00pm. Where do all the shawls go? To our congregation, community, graduates, mission trips, families and friends. They are given away by the pastors, church staff and members of the congregation. They are hand-delivered, mailed and sent in suitcases with mission trips. In 2011 we distributed 130 shawls, 278 pocket shawls for the Christmas Tea and 54 hats, scarves and neckwarmers. How does the ministry work? We have a number of shawl makers who knit and crochet shawls. Once a shawl is completed, it is dropped off in the church office, with the name of the shawl maker or brought to one of our meetings. We keep a log of the shawl recipients so at our monthly meetings we can pray for those who have received a shawl. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple with Moore's 8-session study. And in the process, learn how you can put your own faith into action. Plus, this study is flexible! Participants may watch the video sessions only, or watch the video sessions and do the homework each week, or even complete "go deeper" sections each week. Used Hearing Aid Project

Kids Pak Update

As most of you know, the Kid Pack program is about to get underway for the new school year. The program has grown a bit since the completion of the 2010-11 school year. Last year we helped 55 kids from Zachary Lane. This year Kids Pak is helping 56 students at Zachary Lane (All activities run by BSLC), 82 students at Sonnesyn (Sponsored and packed by BSLC, distributed by St. Joseph Parish), 85 students at Meadowbrook (All activities run by Golden Valley Lutheran Church). The plan is to transition Sonnesyn entirely over to St. Joes by the end of the year so we will be adding a new school after the first of the year. There are also a couple of other elementary schools being serviced by a spin-off of our efforts: 630 students at Forest (Sponsored and packed by the Bonfire Ministry), 670 students at Meadow Lake (Sponsored and packed by the Bonfire Ministry) The Bonfire Ministry is a collaborative effort of 3 ELCA churches in the New Hope & Crystal area. Even though they are not directly associated with BSLC or PRISM, their substantial efforts are a direct result of what BSLC accomplished at Zachary last year.

Trinity First Tiger Club

Tiger Club is the after-school program for children at Trinity First Lutheran school. We average 50 students each day. Each day we help children with homework, pray together and eat a snack. After homework is finished children play games, do art and socialize. It is our goal to have 3-5 volunteers each day at Tiger Club. Volunteers help with homework, read with students and show students good manners and social skills. If you have one afternoon a week you could help our kids, YOU could make an impact. Calling All Labels

School is back in session for Precious Corner Preschool and, once again, we will be participating in the Campbell Labels for Education Program. We can earn FREE educational equipment just by saving. Last year we were able to purchase a portable ball cart and electric ball inflator to keep those balls bouncy. Please remember to collect the UPC codes and V8 products’ caps. New participating products include Pace, Post, Dannon, Glad and Emerald. For a complete list of eligible products and instructions or to drop off your labels, check out our Campbell’s Soup bins in the coat room next to the main offices or outside the Preschool office, Room 127. Tutoring Available Wednesday Nights

Julie Curtis Dorfe, a licensed teacher, is available from 7:00 to 8:00 to supervise and assist with homework. She will be located near the Children’s Christmas Service Rehearsals to cast members with their homework and any other students in 1st through 6th grade that need homework help. She will be in the area of the rehearsals all through their rehearsal schedule which ends December 14th. She well then resume a weekly homework help schedule in the Children’s Library Wednesday, January 5th from 7-8:00.

Trinity First Mission Opportunities

An urgent need exists for volunteers during the afterschool program at Trinity First. Please contact Diane Meyer at Trinity First if you are interested. Also we need meal preparers and servers for the Tuesday night parent meals. Meals do not have to be expensive nor time consuming (ie. hot dogs and chips, mac and cheese, soup and sandwich). These meals are served to approximately 30 to 40 people (parents, children and staff). Currently the staff has been doing the meals which adds to their already long day. These parent nights get the parents more involved by offering classes (ie. Financial Peace University, fire safety and other parenting classes) to them with a meal. The Tuesdays available are as follows: Dec. 6, Jan. 17, Feb. 7, Mar. 6, Mar. 20, April 24. Please prayerfully consider this important mission.
